“Our Mission involves collecting, preserving, and sharing the diverse history of Waddington, fostering a deep appreciation for our shared heritage through education, exhibition, and community engagement.”
Founded in 2021
In 2021, the Waddington Historical Association emerged as a vehicle to promote the unique historical narratives of our community and provide avenues of support to the village/town historian and museum. From the legacy of our founders, the Ogden family, to the construction the St. Lawrence Seaway, there is much to share and promote.

Mary Hamilton
PRESIDENT
I am a Waddington native who is in love with this “little piece of heaven” on the St. Lawrence River. I invited interested community residents and we worked together to form the historical association to support our community’s historian and museum. As a result, we now have the Waddington Historical Association. I am so proud of what we have accomplished so far and look forward to continuing to work with this amazing group of people who want to see Waddington’s rich history celebrated and displayed in the type of permanent location it deserves.

I have lived in Waddington my entire life and have had an interest in history since elementary school. One of my earliest memories is of field trips over to the Moore Museum from the old Waddington Elementary School. I’ve also loved the sense of comradery as well as the genuine care and concern feeling from our small town over the years. When the Waddington Historical Association was forming and looking for interested participants, I was excited to join. Waddington has a lot of amazing and significant history and it’s important to continue to share this for generations to come.

I joined the Waddington Historical Association for several reasons. I am a fourth generation of the Hunter Family residing in Waddington. I have been interested in the history of Waddington for many years. It is my feeling the more we know about our local history the more we learn of ourselves. The study of our local history connects us to our present as well as to one another. I look forward to continuing my historical endeavors as a member of the Waddington Historical Association.

I have lived in Waddington since 2012, though I have spent most of my life in the North Country. I joined the Waddington Historical Association to learn more about the history of the community where my children have been raised and to become more involved in preserving and promoting our local heritage. I am proud to support the efforts to connect residents and visitors with Waddington’s rich history. I look forward to continuing to share this history with the community.

I have proudly called Waddington home for nearly my entire life. Growing up and living in this community has given me a deep appreciation for its rich history, traditions, and the people who make it such a special place. My family and I are proud to call Waddington home, and we all share a love for this close-knit community and everything it has to offer. As an educator, I enjoy helping others learn and fostering a love of local history and lifelong learning. I am honored to be involved with the Historical Association and look forward to helping preserve Waddington’s stories and heritage for future generations while supporting opportunities for our community to connect with its past.

My husband and I bought our house on St Lawrence Ave in Waddington in 1988. Waddington is a special place and has a rich history. I have always loved listening to people telling their stories and have had the privilege of hearing many stories from Waddington residents over the years. The story of Waddington can be found in many places, in the stories people tell, artifacts, newspapers, diaries and history books. It is so important to discover, preserve and pass on these stories . I am happy to be part of discovering and helping to preserve and protect those stories.

As a Waddington native, I enjoy volunteering with community organizations that are committed to highlighting Waddington’s beauty, which includes the village’s rich history. The WHA’s commitment to preserving Waddington’s legacy is something I’m proud to be part of.

I am happy to call Waddington my home. I have always loved listening to stories of Waddington throughout the years from friends and family. My interest in joining the WHA has stemmed from wanting to help others as well as learn more about the place we call home.
